Are going to be the fictitious names in my non fictional story of meeting New York's 2 finest protecting and serving in Central Park yesterday night while riding bikes with Risi. It all happened around 7:30pm in a totally empty park. I didn't even notice them first, but then I couldn't not see them as they were coming up on our tails with their lights on having follow us nearly for a mile, so we quickly decided to exit the park.
Well, we weren't quick enough to get away and my super suspicious ass was stopped as they have come up on us. Risi was sent away 'military style'. My ID'd procedure was also conducted under strictly regulated safety codes. I couldn't move or talk or do anything at all. So after handing my license to him I asked why I was stopped to which Taszilo mumbles some code d 11, shortly to find out it's a red light I ran. I ask why it's illegal to run a red light in a park which is only open to recreational activities at this hour. Without answering my question he walks back to the road to check (I only can guess for traffic signs), still holding onto my ID.
During this time I have plenty of time to have a conversation with Arisztid who explains to me that regardless of the vehicle I operate I am to stop at all red lights. So I request his assistance in having a word with his partner when he returns. He also agrees with me it would be a waste of his time to go to court as
naturally I will plead not guilty to the offense, but he can't speak for his partner. Arisztid is called to the van when Taszilo returns and they have word, my request to plead anything at the time goes unheard and this young looking cop is now behaving elementary school style acting/gesturing behind his partners back showing me he can't talk to him. After 20 minutes I am handed a summons disobeying 'steady red light' riding on my bicycle. This whole event seemed like a staged act; Arisztid as the good cop, Taszilo was the bad cop teaching how to be tough and reach their productivity levels. Arisztid, the rookie even mentioned it was necessary due to Bloomberg, but Taszilo had refused to comment on that.
If you are unfamiliar with the system in New York here is the course of events to take place now. I plead not guilty, a hearing is scheduled to which Taszilo is to appear where he and I will have to present our case and it will be determined by a judge if I am guilty or not. And who knows when this hearing will take place
as I will do all so my witness can appear as well and it might take some arranging to do as London is not the same time zone as New York.
Other then guessing that this will take me away from work for at least half a day, while Taszilo is going to be earning over time money what I can't help to think of is what a freaking military city New York has come to be. As for my state of mind, I didn't let a silly event like this spoil my day, rather to take what I have learned from this situation and to keep riding.
