The Terminal, the Movie
Ever feel like you spend so much time traveling that you may as well live in an airport? Well, that's the premise of a new Steven Spielberg The Terminal, which features Tom Hanks as Viktor Navorski, a hapless traveler from the ficticious Eastern European country of Krakozia, which collapses in a revolution just as Navorski touches down, stranding him for months at JFK airport. On the plus side, the scruffy would-be tourist captures the heart of flight attendant Catherine Zeta-Jones, so it wasn't all bad.
Most incredibly, the film is loosely based on the true story of Merhan Karimi Nasseri, an Iranian national who has been living stranded at the Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris, France since 1988! (Imagine your flight being delayed for 16 years. Keep that in perspective next time you're waiting at the airport.)
The Terminal opens in theaters today. Reviews are mixed, including that of the NY Times.
