Individual Online Travel Booking to Increase Thirty-Four Percent
Reuters reports PhoCusWright, an online travel research firm, predicts over one third of U.S. travel will be booked online by 2006. For those that book their own travel, for leisure or business, the industry will see a 34 percent increase from $39.4 billion in 2003 to $52.8 billion in 2004. The study also notes many hotels are promoting their own sites to consumers to make travel plans and use of third party travel sites such as Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity will see rapid growth.
